Bathroom Accessories Company is Brooklyn’s “Best Kept Secret”

Watermark Designs was founded about four decades ago in the Sunset Park neighborhood as a low-end plumbing fixtures shop called Sepco.

Forty years later, Watermark, now a luxury faucet and fixture company, is undergoing another transformation by trimming down its product lines.

By editing down the number of finishes it offers, Watermark Designs will be able to offer shorter lead times and improve on its already stellar customer service.

“When we get someone who says they want a certain type of detailed design, we have the experience, the machinery to piece things together and fix problems that some manufacturers can’t fix,” says Nathan Figueroa, brand ambassador for Watermark.

The company, which was featured in the Brownstoner, is perhaps best known for its signature Brooklyn line, an industrial style finish with whimsical wheel handles. Watermark is well-known for its successful interpretation of industrial bathroom design.

“With Watermark, for the last 10 years, we’ve been doing a lot of industrial, so we’ve kind of been known as this more industrial company,” says Watermark president, Avi Abel, “which is great except that now everyone is doing industrial, so we don’t want to get pigeonholed into being just another industrial faucet company.”

Most of Watermark’s distinctive collections began as collaborations with designers on their projects, both residential and commercial. Watermark’s design and engineering team then creates plastic prototypes for their clients, then converts them to solid brass. It’s this kind of partnership and design dedication that has made Watermark stand out as a leader in the plumbing fixtures space.

“We really are trying to carve out our own little niche. We want the brand to mean something,” Abel said.
